Ideal travel times for South Africa

In South Africa one can make vacation each season. Very well is generally the spring from the middle of September till the middle of November and the autumn from March - May. The inland main travel time lies in the summer between October and March, heigth of the season is December, from Christmas to in the middle of January takes most South Africans their summer vacation.
Which means that then the holiday areas are overcrowded. The hottest months are January and February, the coldest month are July. In the winter (June - August) it is drying - the best months for visits of game reservations, because the grass is lower and the animals are better to be observed.

Who wants, can drive ski in some mountain regions. In Capetown it rains very much in this season.
Differently in the interior: Here the rain falls in the summer months from October to March usually in short vespertine thundershowers.

To recommend are clothes, which one carries in countries with warm as far as hot climate. In the summer easy clothes and Shorts are indicated. In addition, an anorak, a jacket or a sweater do not forget, because the evenings can be very cool. At the Atlantic coast colish wind blows also in the summer frequently more rigidly.

In the cape provinces and the high-altitude areas genuine winter clothes are advisable in the winter.
Also against rains one should forearm oneself: In South Africa it does not rain frequently, but if, then straight - thus belongs an umbrella, raincoat etc. into the luggage.
