The beaches in the surroundings of Durban
South Africa offers a large selection of attractions. One of these attractions is absolutely Durban with his numerous beaches in the surroundings. Durban - the town in the Indian ocean - is with more than 3 million inhabitants the second largest town of South Africa. Near the city of Durban there are many beaches which invite to the swimming. Because of the long beaches and the semitropical climate Durban every year draws many tourists. But also for local wave riders, Kitesurfer and Boggieboarder Durban is a popular approach point.
In Durban and surroundings the beaches with shark nets are protected, so that no security dangers stand to the arrangement.
In the surroundings of Durban is the Dolphin Coast to which the following towns belong: Sheffield Beach, Salt rock, Balito, Port Zimbali, Umdloti Beach, Umhlanga Rocks and La Lucia. With La Lucia there is the so-called “La Lucia and Beachwood Mangroves Nature reserve”. This reserve is a protected mangrove marshland with an unusual biodiversity in birds and therefore an ideal aim for physical lovers.
The following places belong to the South Coast among other things: Amanzimtoti, Kingsburgh and Scottburgh. Particularly are known and are liked the so-called “Golden Mile” beaches. Dunes, North Beach, Dairy Beach, Wedge Beach, South Beach and Addington Beach belong to these beaches. All these beaches are also liked by surfers very much. Nevertheless, to the north of “Golden Mile” there are even other beaches. These are called Country Club Beach, Tekwini Beach and Laguna Beach. In addition, the most popular beach lies of the Blue Lagoon Beach, Durbans with the Umgeni River mouth for anglers.
Within Durban there is the Beach front, a long beach in the middle of the centre of the town. Though this costs entry, however, is protected also by nets and is guarded by lifeguards. The already called North Beach as well as the South Beach also counts to this Beach front. The called beaches are perfect destinations, because the water is warm and the beaches are protected. Not only for surfers, but also for swimmers or rest-looking vacationers these beaches are miraculous places of residence. The beaches around and in Durban offer for everybody - whether young or old - a wide offer of activities and are worth always a stay.
